A leading business news source, RBC Magazine, recently published an article that lists Sibanthracite Group as Russia’s fastest-growing coal company. The piece entitled, “RBC rating: 50 fastest growing companies in Russia in 2019” is just further confirmation of just how much Sibanthracite has grown over the last year. Sibanthracite is the only ranked coal company on the RBC list, ranked 13th based on its explosive revenue growth over the previous three years. Last year, Sibanthracite’s revenue was an impressive RUB 162.4 billion. The company shows no signs of slowing down.
Sibanthracite Group was founded in 2018 by three coal companies: Siberian Anthracite, Open-Pit Mine Vostochny, and Open-Pit Mine Kiyzassky. The company’s overall strategy includes massive investments in new start-ups and development projects. If one thing could be said about Sibanthracite Group, it is that they are not afraid of taking on a challenge. They have begun several new mining projects from the ground up in the last year. From obtaining the necessary mining license to production, they have illustrated their success in developing Open-Pit Mine Vostochny and Open-Pit Mine Kiyzassky. They are currently developing the Sugodinsko-Ogodzhinskoye coalfield, the largest in the Far East region, open-pit mining has begun this year.
This isn’t the first time that Sibanthracite has gained public attention for its rapid growth. Distinguished business magazine, Forbes, ranked Sibanthracite as the third fastest-growing privately-owned Russian company across all sectors.
The RBC ranking is important, as it is further evidence of the expected trajectory of the company over the next few years. With the developments in Port of Taman, Port Vera, and the Severomiusky Tunnel-2, Sibanthracite Group is anticipated to increase coal production and exportation at an exponential rate.
The top of the RBC rankings was dominated by retailers, oil, and gas companies, followed by metallurgical and mining corporations. However, Sibanthracite Group was the only coal company listed on the league table.
Since 2016, Sibanthracite has almost doubled production. It is anticipated that this number will double again by 2022. Demand in Asian-Pacific countries continues to increase due to an economic boom in the region. Coal will continue to be a primary energy source for decades to come due to its affordability and energy-producing efficiency. It is clear that Sibanthracite Group is prepared to meet that demand with extensive developments that are continuing to increase access to quick production and effective exportation strategies.
